It will be a table topper clash between MISC-MIFA and Felcra FC in Group A of the FAM Cup competition in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia on Wednesday.
Felcra FC is unbeaten after six games and is leading the standings with 18 points while MISC-MIFA is second, with five wins and a defeat.
Last Saturday’s match between AirAsia FC and MISC-MIFA was abandoned due to heavy rain and thunderstorm after 45 minutes of play. A new date has to be set by FAM for a fresh game.
MISC-MIFA manager Aru Sinnasamy said Wednesday’s match is very important as the team is a step behind the leaders.
“We are playing in our home field and we have not lost at home since last year. We have a proud record to maintain,” he said when contacted.
He said coach Jacob Joseph had been putting the team under various drills and had stressed the importance in maintaining the winning streak.
“The players know that they have to keep winning to ensure that they achieve the vision of playing in the higher division next year,” he said.
Aru said Malaysian indian Football Association (MIFA) president Datuk T. Mohan had promised an incentive for the players if they were to win against AirAsia and Felcra.
“I believe the team is very focussed and want to show their potential in this match,” he said.
He said the team also want to prove that their sole loss to NS Penjara was unexpected and were capable of better things.
The match is also the conslusion of the first round of matches for MISC-MIFA while Felcra FC has a gae against Ipoh FA on Sunday.
MISC-MIFA will take a break and will resume their second round against Felcra FC on May 8 and AirAsia FC on May 11
